Tawau : Fr Johnny Raju, the assistant parish priest of Holy Trinity Church administered the Sacrament of Baptism to 23 infants on Sunday, 11th October 2015
2.30 pm.
Prior to the Sacrament of Baptism, Sr Anita Philip fsic facilitated a catechesis session on the responsibility of parents and godparents a week before on 4th October.
In his reflection, Fr. Johnny reminded all parents and godparents on their responsibilities towards their children. He said, 'Parents are the first herald in the
family for them to know God. Parents and godparents are to impart the knowledge of the faith
as teachers and models in the home. Neglecting
this responsibility will definitely cause children to waver in faith in their future life. Teach your children in the earlier age about how to pray, and make
them know and experience the church environment from small. This will help them
to understand the dignity and respect towards their faith in their process
of growing up.'
Nothing and no one can replace the influence of the example of a parent on the spiritual life of a child. They are the hope that the child will be brought up in the Catholic Faith. The parents
and the family members were indeed grateful for this wonderful
moment in their journey of faith together with their children.
The rite of infant baptism ended at 3.30 pm with a photo taking session with Fr. Johnny Raju.
