Rite of Admission to Candidacy for Holy Orders

Sandakan : Seminarian David A Garaman solemnly made the declaration before the ordination of diaconate and the profession of faith before the reception of the order of deacon, before Bishop Julius Dusin Gitom, witnessed by Fr Thomas Makajil and Fr Paul Lo and in the presence of the community of the faithful yesterday, 12th March 2010 at St Joseph’s Church.

The Rite of Admission to Candidacy for Holy Orders of Bro. David A Garaman is a preparation for his diaconate ordination scheduled on Friday, 19th March 2010 at St Mary’s Cathedral.

‘Holy Orders’ is the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time: thus it is the sacrament of apostolic ministry. It includes three degrees : episcopate, presbyterate and diaconate.

The prelate addressed the faithful present on the meaning of the rite of admission.

Christ gave this command : ‘Ask the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest.’ Aware of the call, Brother David considers himself ready to respond and trusting the Lord he says with the Prophet, ‘Here I am, send me.’

When the time comes for Brother David to be associated with the ministry, he will serve the Church and build Christian communities by the preaching of the word and the celebrations of Sacraments.

We hope all faithful will avail themselves during the diaconate ordination of Bro David on 19th March 2010 at 7.00 pm at St Mary’s Cathedral as a sign of our solidarity and support.
