Sandakan - St Mary's Cathedral hosted the monthly Sandakan Inter church Pastors' Fellowship for the month of April on Wednesday 7th April 2010 at the Catechetical Room.
Some 30 pastors and co-workers from eight member churches attended the fellowship. They are from the following churches;
- St Michael's (Anglican) Church
- Good Shepherd's (Anglican) Church
- Covenant Santuary Church
- Preysbyterian Church
- Basel Church
- Baptist Church
- Calvary Church
- Roman Catholic Church
Bishop Julius Dusin Gitom, the Bishop of the Diocese of Sandakan (RC) graced the occasion. In his welcoming speech, he touched on the current issues on justice and peace confronting Christians throughout the country.
Such fellowship, according to the prelate is a good platform to build up a strong bond among church leaders of the various churches. He noted that the spirit of cooperation is prevalent among member churches through the many activities organized such as the inter church Christmas caroling, inter church prison fellowship common stand on environment issue.
Fr. Paul Lo, the assistant rector of St Mary's Cathedral facilitated the fellowship. He proclaimed the Word of God taken from John 20:1-9.depicting Jesus triumphed over the grave and won new life for all. The attendees were put into groups to share on the word, drawing them closer to the Savior, Jesus Christ.
Canon Moses of the Good Shepherd Church, on behalf of all present, presented a souvenir to Fr. Paul.Lo who is expected to leave for Rome to take up a four year course on scripture. He will leave Sandakan early next month.
