Post Mortem & Thanksgiving YouthPREPLink Level 1 and 2 ~ Batch 3

DSst

I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge (1 Cor 1 : 4 - 5)
SANDAKAN : YouthPREPLink is a program initiated by the Good Shepherd Welfare Center (PKGS) in 2005. Taking into account of the needs of the local youths, the Diocesan Campus Ministry felt that there is a need to continue with the program. Members of the Campus Ministry and those who had graduated from Batch 1 and 2 some two years ago decided to organize the Batch 3 YouthPREPLink  Level 1 and 2.

The seven-day YPL level 1 was held in St. Mary's Cathedral Sandakan from 1st to 7th  April 2013 while YPL 2 was carried out in St. Paul's Church, Ulu Dusun from 6th to 12th May 2013. Both levels were successfully run by a group of young and dedicated leaders coordinated by Anna Teresa. It did not only bring them closer to the youths but the bonding among team members has evolved beautifully and strong.

The post-mortem and thanksgiving session on 22nd May was held at the Rectory of Our Lady of Fatimah Church, Beluran some 70 km from Sandakan. Anna Teresa extended her appreciation to all team members and asked team  "How are you and what's new?" Even though it was only two weeks after the camp, many new things have cropped up in our lives. We may face trials and sufferings however we must have thankful hearts even in the midst of difficulty. 'Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus' ~ 1 Thes 5 : 16.

It was a post-mortem of different perspective. Instead of focusing at evaluating our dear friends, we were also asked to reflect and
to search deep within ourselves, our strengths and weaknesses. We were given a checklist to rate out teammate's performance during the camp. We were to rate our friends honestly and fairly so that they may feel supported and move forward for the better. We took the opportunity to praise each and everyone of our team members by expressing it on the evaluation paper. After the evaluation exercise, team members took the opportunity to thank everyone in the team by affirming their uniqueness as individuals.

After the post-mortem session, the team was served with delicious barbecued chicken and local dishes prepared by the local youths. It was a fun-filled get together. Hope to see you again and keep in touch! God bless.
