Opening procession
The Sandakan Franciscan Fraternity held a Devotion yesterday evening, 3rd October 2012 on the passing of St. Francis from this life into God. The Devotion was held at St. Joseph's Church at 7.00 pm after the daily Mass. The local Secular Franciscan Order set up not too long ago prove to be a popular group attracting most of it's members.
Led by Sr. Apollonia FSIC, Regular Franciscan Order, sister-in-charge of Sandakan, the Devotion was a moving experience for some recounting the life of the Holy Saint Francis to follow Christ in the way of the poor man of Assisi. The Devotion began with an entrance procession carrying flowers and five candles signifying the five wounds of the stigmatised Saint. The Feast day Holy Mass will be celebrated this evening at 7.00 pm, 4th October 2012, in St. Mark's Church.
