Tawau: Social
Communication Ministry (SOCCOM) of Holy Trinity Parish participated actively in
the liturgy of the Holy Eucharist on 27th May 2017 in conjunction
with the World Communications Day in
preparing and offering the gifts, and as
commentator and lectors.
I would like, then, to contribute to the search for an
open and creative style of communication that never seeks to glamourize evil
but instead to concentrate on solutions and to inspire a positive and
responsible approach on the part of its recipients. I ask everyone to offer the
people of our time storylines that are at heart “good news”.
Message of His Holiness Pope Francis – 51st
World Communication Day
Msgr Nicholas
Ong, in his homily to the parishioners “as followers of Christ you must share
the good news everywhere through your words, actions and the media. The world
now is full of bad news: war, killing,
murder, suicide bomber, terrorism and so on, but don’t forget that we are
children of the Good News who is Jesus Christ himself. So, do share your
experience of love, mercy and forgiveness that you received from God to others.
Let the world know and acknowledge that “good news” shows hope and affirmation,
that without God’s love, guidance and protection, we are all hopeless.”
Msgr. Nicholas,
before his concluding prayer, introduced the SOCCOM members to the Parishioners
and expressed his gratitude and thanks for all
their hard work and contribution in the dissemination of faith through
various forms of media and keeping records of activities done in every parish.
SOCCOM members of
Holy Trinity Tawau provides voluntary service in all church programs by taking
photographs with free of charge, unless an individual request is done by
parishioners. In general, all photos of events are kept for documentation to
tell the history of the Church to our future generation. Reports of events are
channelled to Catholic based bulletins and websites such as the Diocese of
Sandakan News Update (DOSPO), Catholic Sabah and The Herald.
