Sandakan InterChurch Christmas Celebration 2012

SANDAKAN, Sunday, December 2, 2012. The 14 member Sandakan Inter Church organized the annual Joint Christmas Carol at Yu Yuan Hall in Mile 4, Bandar Kim Fung, Sandakan. The event is aimed at promoting and strengthening the sense of brotherhood between Christian denominations in the district. The theme of this year event is "Jesus the Greatest Gift".

The event which drew a crowd of some one thousand members from member churches began at 7.00 pm . Among those present from St Mary’s Cathedral were Rev. Fr. Thomas Makajil and Parish Pastoral Council Chairman Mr. Patrick Seah.

St. Mary's Cathedral with a 50-member choir led by Mr. Sundry Ekok presented a medley of Christmas carols. The choir comprised members of the various groups namely BM Choir, Parish Youth Choir, Chinese Prayer Group Music Ministry and Star of Yahweh Covenant Community Music Ministry.

The 5 Christmas carols rendered:

Silent Night in 3 languages
O Holy Night
Joy To The World
O Come All Ye Faithful
Gloria In Excelsis Deo

Other member churches also presented their performances. The various performances reflected the joy of the coming Christmas celebration, especially the joy for the most invaluable gift to mankind, our Lord Jesus Christ.
