Participants for the meeting started arriving in Sandakan on the 26th June 2012. Representatives of the Vicariate of Brunei, Dioceses of Sibu, Keningau  and MAJODI, Archdioceses of Kuching, Kota Kinabalu and Kuala Lumpur and Sandakan Diocese being the host, were present for the meeting. The Dioceses of Miri and Penang were not represented. Members from Signis Asia as well as Signis World were also in attendance.

The meeting started with "study day" on the 27th June 2012 with a three sessions video presentation titled "The Big Silence". The video is selected to reflect on Pope Benedict XVI's message for the World Communication Day, Silence and Word: Path of evangelization. It is hoped that members working with the media will have a deeper understanding of the theme. After each session, the participants were broken up into groups for reflection on the message of the video.

The day ended with the opening Mass at the Blessed Sacrement Chapel, St. Mary's Cathedral. Bishop Cornelius in his homily addressed the need to be patient and faithful to the task as the world around us, especially in the local church adapt to the changing role of media. That evening Rt Rev Julius D Gitom, the Bishop of the Diocese of Sandakan hosted the participants to dinner at one of the local seafood restaurants. The particpants had a tasty time sampling the local fresh seafood.
On the 28th June 2012 was business meeting having dealt with reports of various Dioceses as well as issues arising. It was felt that the Committee should find a way to pool their resources together making it available for members' use or sharing. The venue and date of the Signis Asia meeting was announced during the meeting. This will be held from the 1st to 5th Oct 2012 in Kuala Lumpur. The Signis World meeting will also be held next year with the venue being Lebanon. The meeting ended with a closing Mass at the chapel.
