HTC TAWAU CELEBRATES PARISH FAMILY DAY


Tawau : Sunday 3rd June was the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity, also the Parish Day of Holy Trinity Parish. Many activities were held during the month of June and it culminated in the half-day Parish Family Day, participated by some 400 parishioners on Saturday, 30th June beginning 7.00 am to 2.00 pm.

The objectives of the Family Day;
a) to encourage families to come together to celebrate as individual families and as a parish family
b) to enhance the sense of belonging as one Big Family living in communion with each other 
c) to be a platform to promote 'The family as Community of Faith'
The event was held at the Parish Hall compound where food and game stalls were set up as early as 6.00 am. The stalls were managed by the Kadazandusun, Indonesian, Chinese and the Filipino communities offering a variety of local and traditional food for breakfast and lunch. The Parish Youth Apostolate, assigned to sell assorted drinks including ice-cream, aimed to raise enough fund for their expenses in the upcoming 3rd Sabah Youth Day coming August in Tambunan.
After the Opening Prayer led by Fr David, the event began with some warm up exercises with aerobic, followed by  Poco-Poco  and Sumazau dances. Participants had a great time in the work out.



There were a host of games lined up for the event ~ Tug-of-War, Sack Race, Street Soccer, Coconut Bowling and News Paper Dress making for parents and children. There was also a special colouring competition for children 7-12 years old.

During the presentation of prizes to the winners, Fr.David thanked each and all for their commitment in realizing the Parish Family Day. He said, 'Such gathering is an authentic sign that the Church is vibrant and the community lives out the spirit of the one big family.'
The event adjourned at 1.30 pm with a Closing Prayer led by Fr. David.
