ALL SOULS' DAY

Like other Catholics all over the world, All Souls' day was remembered in Sandakan as well. Very early parishioners started converging on the Kam Jai Yen Cemetery. A blessing was to be held at 9.00am that morning. Some come quietly with family members, others with friends, some even with servants to clean up the weeds around the tomb stone.

Fr. Paul Lo said that it is a tradition to come to the grave on All Souls' day to remember the souls of the faithful departed. Time have changed but tradition remains. The florist also came and did some brisk business. A new way of adding color on the flower is actually to spray paint on it as can be seen from the first photo of this post where paint was sprayed.Later in the evening a Mass was celebrated at the St. Mary's Cathedral.
