Tawau : In conjunction with the 3rd anniversary of the formation of the Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs) at Holy Trinity Church , the BEC Core Group organized a Family Day on Sunday, 6th March 2011for all the BEC groups which was also opened to all other parishioners at the Parish Hall.
The occasion began with a thanks giving mass on Sunday followed by the day’s activity. Despite the rainy weather, the enthusiasm of the participants was undimmed.

Though the activity was a simple one, the understanding and sense of belonging among the families of all the BEC groups were profound.
The purpose of this family day was also to get those isolated parishioners to know each other better thereby getting them more involved in parish life.
Ever since the erection of the diocese 3 years ago, Holy Trinity has been emphasizing the importance of the concept of BECs in moving the parish towards our vision and mission. The rector and his assistant have been making regular monthly visits to almost all the established BECs.
Involvement of the BECs in the life of the parish has been remarkable, with their members taking care of the main parish events like the feast day celebration and the Christmas home caroling. They have also been taking care of the Sunday Eucharistic celebration once a month.
