It also coincides with the Chinese New Year celebration for all the boys residing in the hostel. There are altogether 24 boys and are attending school in St. Mary’s Secondary School which is a walking distance from the hostel.
The committee together with the warden and teacher in charge, religious sisters, Rector Rev. Fr. Thomas, Asst Rector Rev. Fr. Paul Lo and His Lordship Bishop Julius were present. Also present was the acolyte David from Lahad Datu who is doing his parish assignment in the St. Mary’s Cathedral Parish.
It was a time for the boys of the hostel whether new or senior to mix with the committee members, the clergy and the religious and to get to know one another.
This is the fifth year of operation and some boys who have resided and completed their school education in Forms 5 and 6 have since left the hostel. Various activities are being organized for the boys in the duration of their stay and faith formation is also being given. The boys will attend Sunday Mass at St. Joseph and assist in the mass as mass servers and wardens and the choir.
