A half day talk by Rev. Fr. Philip A. Muji, assistant rector of Holy Trinity Church Tawau, on the usage of the Catechism of the Catholic Church document was organized by the Catechetical Ministry on Saturday, 16th January 2010 at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel starting at 8.30am.
Among the 75 participants, were teachers of RCIA/RCIC/Sunday School and facilitators of the Children Liturgy as well as some from the other Ministries and a few individual parishioners.
The main objective of the talk was to enable the participants to know the mechanism of doing referral to the CCC. This is important, especially to all those involved in the RCIA/RCIC/Sunday school and Children Liturgy of the main Parish and also outstations.
Fr. Muji told those present that a good teacher or facilitator must have a good knowledge of the Catholic faith, to be coupled with the right skill and attitude so that the 'good news' can be relayed to others with much effect . He should be easily understood by the students.
He should be strongly grounded in the teaching of the Catholic Church to develop trust and confidence among the catechumens.
He further added that to be a teacher or facilitator is not a matter of ‘like or interested' but rather to have the quality as a Christian role model to give continuous faith enrichment to the new believers
After the talk, some participants felt that another session or workshop was needed to have hand on experience doing referral to CCC document.
The session ended at 12.30pm with photo taking and lunch.
