Lahad Datu : Ten members of the Diocesan
Social Communication Commission (DSCC) convened for the second meeting and formation session on 18th and 19th October 2014 at St. Dominic's Church, Lahad Datu. Representatives were from St Mary's Cathedral Sandakan, Holy Trinity Church Tawau, St Dominic's Church Lahad Datu and the Diocesan Pastoral Office.
Monica Loh, the Chairperson of DSCC expressed her appreciation to all members for their dedication in serving the ministry. Their commitment has brought Jesus Christ better known through the social media. The purpose of the
meeting was to review on the progress of the annual plan for 2014 and to chart out the plan for 2015. In the meeting, members discussed at length on how to enhance the role of DSCC in collaboration with other ministries to better share and spread the Good News.
George Lawadin of the Diocesan Social Communication Office shared on how make use of the web and to
proper tag photos to be uploaded to our blogspot for easy access for information. Apart from disseminating events happening across the diocese, the blog also serves as an archive for storage of important information. Our church has enlightened us on the importance
social media as a medium for us to share the word of God and it is vital for us
to know on how to properly use it.
Dalius L. Lobinjang and Francis Tan facilitated the session on how to be a good writer. A good lead will captivate the interest of the readers to read on. The writer must learn the techniques of covering events with the aim to bring the Good News to the readers. The core message of any church events must be linked to Jesus. Through writing we may spread
the salvation message of the Lord as well as being part of the evangelization process.
Monica Loh presented certificates of attendance to all the participants. As an appreciation to their commitment in contributing articles to the diocesan blog, Monica presented a voice recorder each to the representatives of St Dominic's Church and Holy Trinity Church, Tawau. The next meeting is tentatively scheduled in March next year in Sandakan.
