Tawau
- A total number of 80 children received their first Holy Communion on 30th
October 2016, at Holy Trinity Church, Tawau. It was solemnized by Rev. Msgr
Nicholas Ong. They received their formation from the Sunday School in 3
languages: Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese and English. They are, indeed, blessed to
have a wonderful beginning of their journey of faith.
The
excitement and joy were visible in each one of them as they have really waited
for this moment to be part of their memorable encounter with Jesus in their
life.
In
receiving the Body and Blood of Christ, a new chapter of spiritual growth is
initiated with the hope that they will grow in knowing the Lord deeper through
the guidance of their parents, siblings and the Catholic Community as a whole.
In
his address to all communicants, Msgr. Nicholas Ong stressed that they must
continue to learn to know the meaning of the Body and Blood of Christ by receiving
it every week and whenever an opportunity comes. “Listen and obey your parents
and teachers in the Sunday School so that you will understand deeply about the
Eucharist and will be more knowledgeable about your faith. You must grow, not
only physically, but also spiritually. Living in the spirit of joy and love can
only be attained by receiving the Body and Blood of Christ that will nourish
your soul “, he said.
