SANDAKAN : 24 energetic youths from St. Mary's Cathedral, St. Mark's Church and St. Paul's Church, Ulu Dusun spent a day together for the YLC Club held in St. Mary's Cathedral Parish Hall on 18th October 2014.
The day started with a sing-a-long session led by the local youths, followed by an introduction to what is Youth Leader's Camp and Youth Leader's Camp Club by the Sandakan Parish Youth Apostolate (PYA) Coordinator, Sunday Samuel Worok.
The event continued with interactive games. Participants from the various sub parishes had the opportunity to mingle freely. The games had somehow broken down the wall separating them, bridges built and the seed of friendship sowed.
After the session on game, a video clip on the previous YLC held early this year in St. Dominic, Lahad Datu was shown. Participants were divided into two groups and were asked to share on what inspired them most. Half of them involved in the camp mentioned about wanting to experience the beautiful time with God again and one mentioned about recommitting her promise to God where she would journey with the Tim Rakan Belia Remaja (TRBR), Teenagers' Buddy Team.
In the afternoon, the youths were divided into two groups. Those who had attended YLC were in one group and they shared on Bishop Julius' message delivered during the third YLC. The other group, with members who have yet to participate in any YLC were asked to come up with creative ways to explain or express on what friendship meant to them.
The evening session was the 'friendship night.' Just like the previous YLC Clubs held in the three other parishes it was also a night filled with love and joy. It was a wonderful sight as these youths who hailed from different backgrounds and different communities could stay close. They blended well and hope that the friendship built will take root, grow and bloom.
