Double celebrations by members of the Cathedral BEC

Sandakan : Members of the Cathedral BEC which include those residing at the vicinity of the Cathedral, along and around Singapore Road and Taman Kam Jai Yen celebrated the feast day of Sr Appollonia Gumbu fsic and the birthday of George Bell, a diocesan staff, last night 13th October 2010 at the Cathedral Catechetical Room.

The celebration commenced with a Thanksgiving mass in the Cathedral Chapel, presided over by Rt Rev Julius Dusin Gitom, assisted by Deacon David Garaman. The prelate commended the Cathedral BEC for the initiative taken to celebrate the feast day of Sr Appolonia fsic and the birthday of Bell. The coming together of people is a proclamation, not just on common interest but the bond of faith shared among its members.

He urged the BEC members to view their work as  sincere gift  for the Kingdom of God and not to seek for personal glory. He appreciated the many faithful who chose to serve  quietly and unnoticed behind the scene, all for His Glory.

After, the Eucharistic celebration, the members adjourned to the Catechetical Room for a dinner fellowship, though simple but meaningful - fostering unity through the sharing of meal.

The Diocesan and Parish staff were also present to lend support to the occasion..
