Voices of the leaders - Youth Leader's Camp II 2013

Compiled by DSst

97 young leaders from across the four parishes of the Diocese of Sandakan attended the five day YLCII from 23rd - 27th January 2013 held at Holy Trinity Church Tawau. Below are some sharings from the young leaders of the various parishes.

Miszy, St Martin's Church, Telupid
I am so glad that I made the right choice by attending YLCII. It is an awesome experience that formed part of my youth, a part that I will cherish and carry with me what it means to be a servant leader. It was an opportune occasion to build friendship and a closer relationship with God. It has really helped me to strengthen my faith. I am so thankful for everything I have learned.

I love the commisionning mass. It started when I received my cross. When I received it, I reflected how Jesus gave himself to us on the cross. I was also pondering the word of God on Mark 8:34, 'Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.' My heart sank and I cried because I know, I will bear His wondrous cross and continue His mission. That epiphany moment ~ I will really treasure it forever. Thank you Jesus for your love. Thank you YLC organizer. Thank you to "YOU" for making this program amazing.

I am truly blessed. I was challenged to be a good and better leader, but I will have to make myself believe that I am prepared and worthy to hear His calling. After joining YLC, I now believe that I am worthy in every way; that I am worthy to be His disciple. I believe that the burden I carried now is heavier than before, but it is a blessed burden for God will never place a burden on us that we cannot carry. I will be committed in serving Him and when I fall, He will use the people around me to help me to stand up again and continue my journey. Overall, I am truly blessed with the knowledge I've learned and the friendship built during YLC. I will strive to be an effective leader guided by Jesus. Amen!
