Tawau : 13 carol groups from the various Church ministries and communities of Holy Trinity Parish Tawau together with another 13 groups from the
BECs put their faith into action by spreading the Good News
through carols. Singing, espeacially the Christmas carols is an effective tool in evangelization. Holy Trinity Parish Tawau began its 5-day home caroling from December 16th - 20th, 2012.
Two weeks before the actual home caroling, a recollection day was organized for all carolers. Some 200 carolers and the organizing committee attended the recollection facilitated by Sr Liza FSIC. She shared on the meaning of Christmas and the effect of carols to both believers and non-believers. The singing of carols could draw people to Christ.
As per record, more than 1,000 families have been visited by the 26 caroling groups during the 5-day event. Families were happy to receive the carolers into their homes and were inspired by their visit
and presentation of Christmas carols.
At the same time, home caroling were also carried out at the main outstation chapels / zones; namely St. Stephen Tass Ranggu, St. Jude
Semporna, St. Thomas Bombalai and St. Paul, Balung by the local caroling groups.
As a sign of support and motivation to the
carolers, Msgr.
Nicholas Ong, the rector spent a night out with the caroling groups. Accompanying Msgr Ong were, the Chairman of the Caroling Committee and the Chairman of the Parish Pastoral Council.
The spirit of welcoming Christ into their
homes and most importantly into their hearts among the parishioners during the visits is a cause for joy and merriment. It is a sign that we embrace one amother, sharing the joy of the season and bringing warmth to everyone.
Sharing the joy and spreading the Gospel
through singing carols during the Christmas season is another way of
glorifying the Lord for His love.
