On the 22nd February 2020,
once again the Star of Yahweh Covenant Community (SYCC) was compelled to spend their
monthly fellowship with the Christian student from Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) and Sekolah Seni Sandakan for the sake of love
and kindness towards others. As usual the young and old in the community would
work together hand in hand to make the monthly program run smoothly. This is
another way for the SYCC who is desire to minister to the other community in
our church as well as to be closed with one another.
The ladies are preparing for the food at the kitchen
This time we
highlighted to those who are behind the scene in this program. We grouped
ourselves into two groups; the seniors and youths whom have their own tasks to do.
Early in the morning, the seniors’ men were busy arranging the chairs at the
hall while the women would start their special menu to cook for the students.
As the youth would be very busy preparing for the music instruments and setting
up the LCD for the singing, praising, games and group sharing.
Since this
fellowship program started more than five years ago, SYCC unceasingly reaching
out for the young, especially to those students who are far from their families
and thirst for Christ’s love. It is also an opportunity to teach them how to
give without receiving and the importance of being the light in the dark world.
Acts 2:39 says, “For God’s promise was made to you and your children, and to
all who are far away-all whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
Phillip Mosinoh who
is the elder of SYCC said this is one of the visions and missions of the
Sandakan Diocese to share the good news to others. At the same time to build a good
formation for the students spiritually by not only giving them food to eat but
spiritual food as well.
Veronica Chai,
one of the ladies in the community said, “Doing this kind of service is a
family day and having a happy time in the community whereby we could work
together, sharing and supporting towards one another with Christ’s love.”
Timothy James, one
of the SYCC youths was gladly said he was happy with joy to give his very best
for the Lord when doing this kind of service for the students. “It has been always
a privilege to help and care for the students. It is through God’s grace that I
am able to spread His love for the students. I felt blessed and glad that there
is a feeling of joy to do God’s work. I am called to give ONE MORE for Him.”
SYCC youths lead the praising and singing during the fellowship
The students
enjoyed the fun activities which were carried out by the SYCC youths; the
praising and singing as well as the games builds the relationships between
them, and the devotional time gives them the opportunity to ask spiritual
questions.
The SYCC youths are doing their part to give service to others.
