FAREWELL TO SR. TAURIA fsic AND SR. RUSIAH fsic

Julita, SOCCOM Tawau
L-R : Fr David, Sr Rusiah fsic, Msgr Nicholas Ong, Sr Tauria fsic and Fr Johnny
Tawau : We, as baptised Catholics are called to holiness through a relationship with God. Some people receive a call to live their baptism through religious life. Consecrated women dedicate their entire lives to God and the Church through the public profession of the vows of chastity, poverty and obedience.
In every age there have been men and women who, obedient to the Father's call and to the prompting of the Spirit, have chosen this special way of following Christ, in order to devote themselves to him with an "undivided" heart (cf. 1 Cor 7:34), ~ Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation Vita Consecrata of the Holy Father John Paul ll.

Sr. M. Tauria Taurin fsic
After having served  Holy Trinity Parish for some six years, Sr Tauria fsic has recently been  transferred to the Diocese of Keningau. She is assigned  to St. James, an outstation in Apin Apin, Keningau.
Sr. M. Tauria Taurin fsic, a humble, friendly but firm in her belief and a helpful servant of God was actively involved in quite a number of  spiritual and communal activities. Beside being appointed as the Spiritual Adviser for the Parish Christian Family Life Ministry for Holy Trinity Tawau, she was also involved  in the Catechetical ministry. She also taught in Holy Trinity Kindergarten.
She left Holy Trinity Parish Tawau on 25th January. We wish Sister M.Tauria Taurin fsic, a blessed journey of religious life and continue to serve the people of God  with a big and warm heart.

Sr. M. Rusiah Garuk fsic
She was transferred from St. Dominic's Parish Lahad Datu early 2012. She has served Holy Trinity Parish for some two years.

Sr. M. Rusiah fsic will do a one-year Theological Year in La Foresta, Kiulu in preparation of her final profession.
While in HTC, she journeyed with the Youth, Legion Of Mary, the Catechetical Ministry and she also served the out stations. Sr. M. Rusiah fsic is simple and kind hearted, patient but firm in her words specially in expressing her views.
She left Tawau  on the second week of January. We wish Sr. M. Rusiah fsic, a blessed and fruitful Theological Year and continue to serve with love.
The parishioners of Holy Trinity Tawau would like to thank both sisters for their undivided support and commitment in serving the local community especially on spiritual matters.

Francis Tan from the Diocesan Pastoral Office facilitated the session on the vision of the Diocesan Human Development Commission and the Social Mission of the Church.
The following morning, 19th January 2014, the formation program continued with the session on, 'The Way Forward', 'Team Building and Leadership Skills' facilitated by Sr Maria rgs.
Commission members were commissioned by Bishop Julius during the Sunday Eucharistic celebration on 19th January 2014 at St Paul's Church, Ulu Dusun. Each of us is the result of a thought of God. Each of us is willed, each of us is loved, each of us is necessary. (Pope Benedict 24th April 2005) We are called to mission, serving in various ways. We are to preach the Gospel to the poor, to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery to the blind and to set at liberty those who are oppressed (Luke 4 : 18)

Each member was given the light as a sign of faithfulness of God, sealed with the Spirit of holiness that we may be blessed with wisdom and perseverance in the mission.
Members made their pledge before the prelate witnessed by local parishioners of St Paul's Church. They pledged to perform the task of faithful service, to their utmost best as willed by God. They are to serve with love and compassion, bringing light and hope to those in need, especially the poor, the oppressed and those bound in darkness.

We are called to find Christ in them (the poor and vulnerable), to lend our voice to their causes, but also to be their friends, to listen to them, to speak for them and to embrace the mysterious wisdom which God wishes to share with us through them. This is why I want a Church which is poor and for the poor. (Evangelii Gaudium 198)

HTC TAWAU CELEBRATES FEAST OF STO. NINO ( THE HOLY INFANT OF JESUS )

Julita, SOCCOM, Tawau
Holy Trinity Parish, Tawau - 19th January 2014, the Second Sunday of Ordinary time in the Liturgical year was also the Feast of Sto. Nino, the Holy Infant of Jesus. This Feast has become a yearly event for the Filipino Community in Holy Trinity Parish Tawau in remembrance of the history of faith and salvation.
The 11.00 am Thanksgiving Mass was  presided over by Msgr. Nicholas Ong and con celebrated by Fr. David A. Garaman and Fr.Johnny Raju. Some 500 Filipino parishioners attended the Holy Mass. 14 members of  the Filipino Pastoral Community from St. Mary's Cathedral Parish, Sandakan participated in the celebration.

Referring to the Gospel reading from John 1: 29 - 34, Msgr Nicholas in his homily urged parishioners to value the free gift that God gives to all humankind which is salvation itself. Christ is the suffering servant of God, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world with one purpose and that is to save us all.
He said, "God gives us salvation freely, the only thing we must do is to come to Mass every Sunday, receive the body and blood of Christ with faith for our salvation. Receiving communion with faith and responding 'AMEN' shows that we believe and our faith will lead us to salvation. Receiving communion without  acknowledging our faith, will not lead us to salvation."

With this strong and clear message once again all parents and Godparents are reminded to pursue, to encourage and bring their children to Mass that they will be enriched in their faith and knowledge in Christ. This will empower them to have the ability to overcome challenges of the world and to be saved.
He added that Sto Nino or the Holy infant of Jesus symbolizes total dependency of the Father. By  putting  ourselves in the hand of God the Father, with hope and faithfulness, the compassion of God will be revealed through the Holy Spirit. Be like children, innocent and fully trusting the Father.
In conjunction with World Day of Migrants and Refugees, themed Migrants and Refugees: Towards a better world, Msgr Nicholas said that we are only passing through this world, let us move along together, growing in mutual respect, caring and upholding tolerance for a better world for all.
After the Thanksgiving Mass, parishioners adjourned to the Parish Hall for a luncheon fellowship.

The celebration themed "Jesus is the source of light and hope" was filled with presentations by the various groups of the Filipino community.

YOUTH LEADER'S CAMP 2014 IS NOW ACTIVATED!

.... To be continued!
