'Selamat Datang' to all delegates from Tanjung Selur

Tawau : Msgr Yustinus Harjosusanto MSF, the Bishop of Tanjung Selur, Kalimantan Timur led a delegation of nine members to Tawau for the second dialogue session between the Diocese of Sandakan and the Diocese of Tg Selur, to be held on Wednesday 23rd May 2012 at Holy Trinity Church. The first dialogue session of 11 members was held at Sta Maria Imaculata Church, Tarakan, 26th - 27th October last year to explore ways to reach out to Indonesian migrants working in the Diocese of Sandakan. The aim of the session here in Holy Trinity Church, Tawau is to evaluate on the effect of pastoral care as mutually agreed by both dioceses extended to the migrants for the duration since the last session.

This time around, the session involves 21 delegates; 9 from the Diocese of Tanjung Selur ~ 2 priests, of which, 1 is from the Diocese of Larantuka, Flores, 4 religious sisters, 1 religious brother, 1 lay brother and Bishop Yustinus himself and 12 from the Diocese of Sandakan.~ 6 priests, 3 religious, 2 lay members and Bishop Julius. The dialogue session will now have representatives from the sending, the transit and the receiving dioceses.



The delegation from Tanjung Selur arrived late afternoon Tuesday, 22nd May from Nunukan. They were feted to a dinner reception arranged by the Indonesian Catholic Community at the Parish Canteen. In his welcoming speech, Bishop Julius extended his warm greetings and bade them a warm welcome to the Diocese of Sandakan. The prelate added, 'We are glad that Bishop Yustinus and his delegates have reciprocated to our visit in Tarakan last year. May we maintain the cordial relationship always and may our meeting tomorrow bear much fruits.'

During the course of the dinner, the women of the community took the opportunity to celebrate the belated 'Hari Ibu Celebration' together with both the Bishops, Msgr Nicholas Ong, the rector of Holy Trinity Church and all delegates from Tanjung Selur. It was a moment for the Indonesian women to cherish to be able to celebrate mother's day with Bishop Yustinus and all delegates from Tanjung Selur.
